Learn about educational events and programs
Universities, businesses, governments, and other organizations are holding events in every region of the world to advance international education. The US Embassy in Qatar is holding a digital videoconference that will bring together officials from Penn State University and students and parents in Qatar to discuss the college application process and requirements. In Argentina, binational centers are reaching out to local universities and public and private secondary schools to announce a series of events on working in the United States, obtaining student visas, and enjoying the experience of international study.
These events are taking place as the international commitment to education grows. In 2007, senior State and Education department officials are leading delegations of college and university presidents to meet with students, educators, and government representatives in other countries. The State Department also has awarded the largest number of Fulbright scholarships in the history of the program.
These events and programs demonstrate America’s continuing welcome to international students. America values the friendship of the millions of young people, citizens, and leaders around the world who understand the United States because they have studied here.
