ISAF delivers computers to children’s hospital
KABUL, Afghanistan (June 29) — ISAF troops delivered several donated computers and network equipment to main paediatric hospital here June 25.
Members of the Italian forces with Regional Command-Capital, including Col. Andrea Mulciri, set up the new computer system for Indira Gandhi Children Hospital and the hospital’s director, Dr. Al-Haj Khalilullah.
These computers begin the implementation of the hospital information system. The Italian organization Informatici Senza Frontiere (Computers Without Borders) developed the open-source, royalty free software designed for the management of clinical records.
Regional Command-Capital’s specialists installed the new systems in the administration department, emergency room reception and the out-patient department, where everyday about 1,000 new young patients visit.
This project is part of a wider program for the improvement of the Kabul region hospitals capabilities. The ISAF troops will provide similar capabilities to the clinics in the Surobi district.
